 From the Director of Human Resources

Welcome to the Human Resources Department for Trenton Public Schools!  The HR Department provides a wide array of support services for the District and its 300 employees. The primary responsibilities of this Department are recruitment and selection of all regular and substitute employees; benefit administration; union contract management and negotiations; employee counseling; guidance to supervisors dealing with job performance issues; compliance with applicable federal and State regulations; fulfilling requests pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act; processing Student Work Permits; pupil accounting, and assisting with budget development.

The staff at Trenton Public Schools is comprised of teachers, counselors, student services support personnel, administrators, administrative/clerical support professionals, maintenance and ground workers, bus personnel, and paraprofessionals.

Individuals interested in becoming a substitute teacher in Trenton must first become employed by Professional Educational Services Group (PESG).  You may contact PESG at 1-866-782-7277 or visit their website at www.subpass.com for more information.  In turn, Trenton Public Schools contracts with PESG for substitute teachers.

All others interested in joining the District, in either a regular or substitute capacity, must complete an application.  Applications are available for pickup at the Board of Education building.

If you are eventually selected for employment, you must also submit to fingerprinting and a criminal background check prior to final approval. Applicants are responsible for the cost of this process which is approximately $68. 

When job openings occur within the District, they are generally posted on bulletin boards located in the General Office area of every District building and on this website.  Teaching positions and certain other full-time professional positions are also posted on the Wayne RESA website www.resa.net under the “Job Application Network” link.

The Human Resources Department is located in the Neil Van Riper Board of Education building located at 2603 Charlton, Trenton, Michigan 48183.
