21f Online Learning
Student access to any time and any place learning options has expanded under Section 21f of Public Act 60 of 2013. Students enrolled in a public local district or public school academy in grades 6-12 are eligible to enroll in up to two online courses during an academic term. Trenton Public Schools supports online learning, and as a district, we pride ourselves on innovative uses of technology to supprt learning.
Online learning is an instructional approach which expands and customizes learning opportunities for students. However, it is substantially different from face-to-face instruction. Parents should consider the unique qualities of their children when investigating whether an online course is the best instructional fit for them. To assist with this decision, please review the resources Online Learner Readiness Rubric and the Parent Guide to Online Learning.
Students may select courses from the statewide catalog of online courses. Please contact your school counselor for more information about enrolling in an online course. The deadlines to apply for 21f online courses are:
Arthurs Middle School: May 1 for first semester and November 1 for second semester
Trenton High School: May 1 for first trimester; October 1 for second trimester; and January 15 for third trimester
