Golden Apple Award

Golden Apple Award

Trenton Public Schools would not be where it is today without the contributions and commitment of the many employees and volunteers within the district.

Recognition programs, such as the Golden Apple Award, provide an opportunity to recognize and thank those dedicated individuals.

The establishment of a Recognition Committee has helped to improve this procedure and to provide more consistency. This committee consists of a minimum of three administrators and three teachers. The committee reviews the nomination forms prior to each cycle. The three administrators and three teachers rotate each cycle, which is November, March, and May.

The procedure divides the Golden Apple Award into three categories, with several points to keep in mind when reviewing the nomination form.

  • An individual can be nominated as Certified Staff, Support Staff, or Volunteer.
  • An individual does not have to meet all the criteria suggested to be selected for the award.
  • An individual can be awarded the Golden Apple more than once.

As for the process, it is not necessary to have a recipient from each category, each cycle. Ideally, there would be a maximum of six recipients each cycle. Once nomination forms are submitted, the three administrators and three teachers as a Recognition Committee for that cycle will make their decisions on the Golden Apple Award.

When employees and their work are valued, their satisfaction and productivity will rise. They are motivated to maintain and improve their good work.

Praise and recognition are essential to an outstanding workplace.

The Golden Apple Award recipient will be recognized at a Trenton Public Schools Board of Education meeting, the TPS Facebook page, TPS website, and local media.
